The Root and Descendant of David

In Revelation’s closing chapter, Jesus declares, “I am the Root and the Descendant of David.” As David’s descendant, he is the promised human Messiah who came through David’s royal line. As David’s Root, he is also David’s Lord, creator, and eternal source—the One who existed before him. These titles reveal Jesus as both fully human and fully divine: the promised King who came into the world to save and who will return to reign forever.
